How prevalent is suicide?

  • Suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death in persons aged 10-24 and the 11th leading cause of death among Americans as an entire population
  • Over 33,000 people commit suicide each year
  • Men are 4 times more likely to commit suicide than women
  • Women report attempting to commit suicide 3 times more frequently than men
